In a shocking twist that has rocked the WWE Universe to its core, Roman Reigns took center stage on Friday Night SmackDown to drop a bombshell: Cody Rhodes is the “mystery partner” who was set to back up Seth Rollins at Money in the Bank — and Roman claims he has the proof.
With just two nights remaining before WWE’s explosive London event, speculation had been running wild all week. Seth Rollins, embroiled in a bitter feud with The Bloodline 2.0 — now led by a cold and calculating Solo Sikoa — promised that he had “an ace in the hole” to stand by him in his war against Solo, Tama Tonga, and Jacob Fatu.
Fans speculated names from Randy Orton to even The Rock himself. But no one expected what happened next.
On SmackDown, as the main event segment rolled around, the arena darkened. Roman Reigns, wearing a cold expression and no longer flanked by Paul Heyman, stepped into the ring and delivered one of the most blistering promos of his career.
“You all think Cody Rhodes is a hero. You think he’s still chasing his dream,” Roman began, eyes locked with the camera. “But I’m here to tell you… Cody’s been playing all of you.”
With the crowd growing restless, Reigns revealed security footage — allegedly leaked from the WWE Performance Center — showing Cody Rhodes meeting with Seth Rollins last week. The footage, though grainy, showed Cody handing Seth what looked like a contract.
“You see that?” Roman growled. “That’s Cody signing on as Seth’s mystery partner. And guess what — they planned to spring this on us like it was some ‘WrestleMania moment.’”
Reigns went further, suggesting that Cody’s alliance with Rollins proves that he’s lost his way.
“This isn’t the American Nightmare,” Roman scoffed. “This is the American Opportunist.”
The WWE Universe was left stunned. Chants of “Cody! Cody!” erupted, but were quickly followed by a mix of boos and gasps as more footage aired showing Cody working out with Seth at a private gym earlier in the week. While nothing was said in the footage, the optics were clear: Cody and Seth were definitely working together.
Moments later, Seth Rollins appeared via satellite, grinning like a man caught red-handed — but proud of it.
“Surprise, Roman,” Seth said. “You just made my job easier. The truth is, yeah — Cody’s my partner. And together, we’re gonna take everything from The Bloodline.”
Then, in an unexpected twist, Cody himself joined the feed, his voice cold and calm.
“I never needed to hide, Roman,” Cody said. “I wanted you to see this coming. But you were too arrogant, too sure of yourself. At Money in the Bank, I finish the story — not just mine, but yours.”
Back in the ring, Reigns snapped. He tore apart the contract Cody had handed Seth in the footage and promised “blood and war” on Saturday night.
The wrestling world is now on fire. Cody Rhodes teaming with Seth Rollins to face off against The Bloodline 2.0? It’s a dream team — or a powder keg ready to explode.
And with the stakes higher than ever, one question remains:
Can Cody and Seth truly trust each other — or will this alliance crumble under the pressure of legacy, ambition, and revenge?
Only Money in the Bank will tell.
